About the Poem
I would have preferred to give the poem the title The Mental Arithmetic Teacher and our American readers will prefer The Mental Math Teacher, but the chosen title somehow puts the emphasis firmly on the Mental, which is surely where it belongs.

I buy seven apples
At the supermarket
But I eat five myself
And I give one to Brett.
After my eating and
