Fun and Games

It's too rainy for rugby,
Too foggy for football.
It's too icy for hockey,
There'll be no games at all?

Not so. Come hail and tempest,
The master of cunning
Will, with a sly smile, suggest
Some cross country running.

About the Poem

Fun and Games is a poem that reflects my own experiences of games at school. Afternoon games were never, ever cancelled because of bad weather. Instead the barely tolerable sports - football and hockey - were replaced by the truly horrible sports - usually cross country running, but occasionally by swimming, the one sport that I liked even less than cross country running.
